Russian Thoughts

This Church, found on the road to Volgograd (Stalingrad) drew us again and again to its' haunting loneliness...

Hello Ted, Calvin Here again! Do you know anything about this Church? Protestant or Catholic? My guess is Proteatant. Have you seen this in person? I have great curiosity and protective sensitivity over the churches marking our existance. Thanks for any info.

All the best!,
Calvin

Hey, Ted: This definitely doesn't look like an Orthodox church. Can you tell us anything more about it?

I'll post a photo of where the church was...it was being fixed up...but it is an Orthodox Church.

Now....perhaps a study might show that the similarities in Volga German churches were as a result of the Volga Germans copying the design.

An example...a theory I have had on Volga German homes...many of the "old" homes still standing are similar to the homes in many of the Russian villages I have been in. So, are these homes part of Volga German architecture? Or just common to the area for both Volga germans and Russians?
