Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea

On TV for 4 seasons, from 1964 to 1968, (a spin-off from the 1961 movie of the same name) I grew up with this Television classic. Amazing special effects, but sometimes silly stories, still made for a classic show that I wanted to watch each and every time it was on television.

Every kid loved the show and were amazed by the special-effects.  For many of us, the transition to colour in the episodes happened at the same time that our families purchased a colour TV!

Remembering Old Shows

Something that literally EVERY family did when I was a kid, was watch TV together.  I mean, you had 2 channels, and if you were fortunate, you had cable TV....and then had about 6 or 7 channels.

It meant that every night you watched TV as a family.  Not the torture you might think it was, I saw some great TV when I was a kid...and learned a lot about my parents tastes in programming....which still influences me to this day.

So...I'm going to run through a few favorites....these are the opening of some great programs...or so I thought as a kid.

I still see my Mom and Dad, sitting there, in their favorite chairs....and wish, sometimes, I could just go back and do it again.

Here's the first. Premiering on September 17, 1965, was the Wild Wild West. I was 5 years old...and I loved this show with its "gadgets". My parents always enjoyed the show as well.

And another find!

Memories are funny things. You can spend your whole life not remembering certain things, then "it so happens" that you run across something from your past.

Minding my own business in an antique store in Quebec City, I ran across this toy from my childhood.  I remember it so well, especially how the train cars would join together. I must have been 6 or 7 (1966 or 1967) when my parents gifted it to me.  I remember the puffs of smoke and the hours of fun I had with it.

How cool is that!
